Eataly's La Birreria - A Brewery with Some Altitude
Sunday, May 01, 2011

Eataly is set to get even more crowded with the addition of a rooftop beer garden called La Birreria.  The new 8,000 square foot 300-seat beer garden is slated to open in mid-May.  La Birreria, which will serve a large variety of brews year round, features a heating system and a retractable roof for inclement weather.

As is the case with many rooftop venues in Flatiron, the views are spectacular (think 230 Fifth).  La Birreria sports unobstructed views of Madison Square Park, The Empire State Building, and The Flatiron Building.  Unfortunately for Eataly's managment, the beautiful beer garden view came at a cost.  According to Eater.com, La Birreria's opening was delayed due to technical difficulties with hoisting the large copper brewing system (eventually had to be elevated to the top floor via crane, talk about a pain!).
